  1. Favorite aspect: two cents.

For their oddity, history, and diversity.

  2. Clinton F - Favorite aspect is the thrill of finding something in circulation that shouldn't be there anymore (like a wheat cent)

  3. Jeremy W.: My favorite aspect of numismatics would be finding errors on coins. Such as RPM's, Doubled Dies, die clashes, and also die cracks.

I love everything about numismatics but my absolute favorite would have to be meeting so many wonderful people that share something in common with me. It is very rare to meet a collector with an attitude. It seems if you collect you are just a cut above the average citizen and you appreciate other people more. I wne to the ANA show in Ft Worth last month, it was my first big one to ever go to. I met so many people. I also learned so much.

  5. I love the history. When I was little I remember finding wheat and Indian head pennies and wondering who held them, spent them, what was bought, and I'd make up stories of how that particular coin made it to its resting spot in my hand. I want to say, now that I'm an adult, that I don't make up stories in my head... but I still do, just not as frequently.

  6. I love Numismatics. My favorite aspect of coin collecting is that I am carrying on a tradition from my father. He shared his passion of coins with me and I am passing it on to my kids. It is a wonderful hobby, which can educate people in current and past history, exercise their mind, and even invest in their future.

  7. I love the direct connection to the past. My Grandmother would give me peace and morgan dollars for birthdays and xmas presents. I had no clue what they were but I do now and I revere my Gran for believing in my future while cherishing the past of the US. How often can you hold something in your hand from before the Civil War?

  8. My favorite aspect of numismatics is the artwork on the coins. I am more likely to buy a coin that looks good than one that doesn't, although if I need it, I might buy a lower-quality specimen and trade up later.

  9. favorite aspect of numismatics? Well I would have to say every aspect. I like the fact that coins can be used as an investment tool. I like the history coins carry. I hope to have a nice collection in time and maybe in the future when my son is older he may pick up the hobby as well.

  12. I love the history. I would prefer a circulated coin, then, I'm wondering who could have used it, and for what..?! To buy milk at the farm, to get a candy for the kid... I just love collecting coins.

  14. I enjoy numismatics for the history. If only coins could talk! I've also got my kids into the hobby (I'm fairly new as well) and they've got a state quarter collection, as well as a paper money set and a penny set.

  15. I love collecting coins and banknotes simply because of its history. I also admire its beauty and quality. When I see an old coin or banknote, I always think of the history behind it. I am an amateur collector but someday I might learn something. My field of expertise is collecting Old Philippine Coins and Banknotes.

  16. I'm new to numismatics - collecting for only a couple years. I started going to coin shows with my fiancé and helping with his collection. Soon I started my own collections - state quarters and world coins. I like to collect 1958 coins from different countries and learn what was happening in that country when I was born. I also collect coins from countries that no longer exist or have changed their names.

  17. I'd have to say that of all the fun stuff in numismatics, theres not much better than buying a big lot of coins, or going through rolls from the bank and looking through what you have. THe anticipation is always so high, like it is with me now as I look through these wheat cents... hoping to find a '22 no D, or a '31 S atleast/

  19. Why I Love Numismatics? I’m still a newbie…just over 3 and half years now…and I’m always learning something new...learning what’s new, getting smart ideas on my collections and finding out what I should and shouldn’t spend my money on..Thanks for all the wonderful feedback and I hope to learn so much more through-out the years ;) Last I would say finishing a collection and the thrill of the chase.........Jennifer

  20. My favorite aspect of numismatism is the history. When I pick up an Indian Head Cent, I often wonder if this was once held by someone like Al Capone or a President of the past. The journey the little coins must have had really gets me thinking...but the scavenge for good dates is always a plus!
